It is also called Albuterol and is known for relaxing muscles in the walls of the small air passages in the lungs. This component in the medication and inhalers help to open up airways and helps to relieve chest tightness, wheezing, and cough so that you can breathe easily. This component is called a bronchodilator or a reliever medicine. Salbutamol component also aids to prevent shortness of breath and wheezing during exercise, i.e. exercise-induced asthma. You may get the component by their brand names, Asthalin 2mg Tablets, Asthalin 4mg Tablets, Salbetol 2mg Tablets, Astharid 2mg Tablets, Megasal 2mg Tablets, Salbutamol 4mg Tablets, Salbetol 4mg Tablets, Asthalin Inhaler - 100 mcg and Ventorlin Inhaler - 100mcg.

Uses

The component is known for consumption to open airways and make breathing easier completely easier for people with breathing issues like:

  • Asthma
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Function:

Conventional tablet and inhaler forms of medication with this component, which is a type of medicine that is known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This component in the medication is known for working by acting on receptors in the lungs, which are known as beta-2 receptors. When it stimulates these receptors causes muscles in the airways to relax and open airways for appropriate breathing practice.

In conditions where there is a narrowing of the airways, i.e. conditions named asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, like emphysema and chronic bronchitis), it is difficult for air to get in and out of a person’s lungs. Hence, in such cases, the drug works by opening the airways and making it easier for the person to breathe.

The drug form is available in conventional tablets and inhalers. Inhaling the drug allows acting directly in the lungs where it is needed the most. It also lowers the potential for side effects occurring in other parts of the body, as the amount absorbed into the blood through a person’s lungs is lower than medicine taken by mouth in form of a conventional tablet.

Salbutamol drugs in inhalers form are also known as 'relievers'. This is because when this drug is breathed into the lungs it works quickly for relieving asthma attacks, wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath. The inhalers can also be used shortly before exercising or exposure to allergens (things that trigger wheezing, like pet’s fur or pollen) for opening airways and preventing wheezing.
